TECHNIQUE
"My work is based on my personal view of the
environment where I was raised. The soil textures,
the forests, the wind and the night sky are present in my work through the
architectural construction, the texture of the surfaces, and the sparkling
effect of the tiny diamonds. The diamonds float on my jewelry due a special
stone-setting technique developed by me over the past 20
years, which is a signature of my work."
Christo Kiffer
"Beginning his career as a student of architecture and sculpture, Christo Kiffer found the mode of architecture in his native Brazil less than stimulating, and turned his attentions to a new artform. "Jewelry came naturally to me because it was a fusion of my two passions: structural constructions, and the research for a personal aesthetic language", he explains. There were no jewelry schools or classes in Brazil then, so he apprenticed with a stone-setter, before spending countless hours at the bench teaching himself the skills he needed to master his new craft. " I love what I do". says Kiffer. " To design and make jewelry with freedom is my passion. When I am at the bench, I never think of jewelry as a business". His signature collection has taken American retailers by storm, and utilizes his micro-setting technique. Tiny diamonds are hand-set into gold and platinum designs, bearing a unique ridged surface that creates both the design and the backdrop for the diamonds."
